Hawaii Sandbars Explained

The Kaneohe Sandbar in Oahu, Hawaii is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the sun and the sand. A sandbar is a strip of land that is exposed during low tide and submerged during high tide, creating an island-like experience in the middle of the ocean.

Kaneohe Sandbar offers a unique opportunity to experience Hawaii's natural beauty by boat or kayak. It’s fairly easy to get out to the sandbar from Kaneohe Bay.

The sandbar is located about one mile offshore from He‘eia Kea Harbor, so renting a boat or kayak from nearby He‘eia Kea pier is best. The sandbar is ideal for visitors looking to relax in the sun, take a dip in the ocean, and explore its diverse marine life. It’s also become a popular spot for parties and celebrations with friends and family.

However, it’s important to remember that keeping our beaches clean starts with us! Make sure to bring your own trash bags or reusable containers when you go out on the sandbar. Additionally, if you are boating out to the sandbar make sure you are aware of your speed limit so that you don't stir up too much sediment and disturb marine life.

The Kaneohe Sandbar is a beautiful spot for enjoying Hawaii's natural beauty with friends and family - let's keep it clean for generations to come!
